Rustic Bathrooms

In recent years the rustic interior look has made a resurgence, however, giving your bathroom that vintage feel isn’t always an easy task. We have a few tips for helping you achieve that rustic feel in your bathroom.

Oversized bathtubs with rolled edges and claw feet create a classic look, and ensure the tub takes centre stage and sets the tone for the whole room. A dark finish to the outside of the tub will give a vintage, nostalgia invoking feel. A definite consideration for that rustic look.

Certain stones can add to your bathroom’s classic look. Marble tiles used in the shower and around the sink offer a luxurious finish to your interior, and the natural texture create a beautiful throwback effect. Choosing the right stone can transform your bathroom’s interior into a luxury rustic retreat from the rest of your house.

Similar to selecting the right stone for your throwback look, getting the right metal right can go a long way toward that classic feel too. Coppers and brushed steel carry that classic look with some old school charm, they’re an absolute must for the full vintage experience.

Get rid of the branding. Modern packaging is made to stand out and catch the eye with bold colours and brash shapes. 21st century branding on your bottles of shampoos, toothpastes and lotions will bring your vintage look right back to the here and now. Transferring your cosmetics into a set of rustic styled bottles will maintain your desired feel and tie the rest of the interior together.

This follows on to our final tip. Keep the colours to a minimum, 3-4, possibly 5 if you’re clever with your selections. Using minimal, pastel tones will set off your throwback features and enhance the mood of the room, making you feel like you’re in your very own 1900’s bathroom.

We hope these tips have given you some inspiration when it comes to creating the ultimate vintage bathroom experience! Let us know your thoughts and ideas on how to create a beautiful classic interior.
