Winter is coming – How to make your bathroom feel warmer this Christmas

Follow our suggestions and maintain a warmer feel to your bathroom.

There is nothing worse than having to use a cold bathroom during the bitter winter seasons, which is why we are sharing with you, four simple steps to help you make your bathroom feel a little warmer this Christmas. The bathroom is irrefutably one of the hardest rooms in the house to get feeling cosy and snug, though fest assured that it’s not entirely impossible.

As the large majority of bathrooms are fitted with cold tiled floors and nippy porcelain fittings, complete with cool colours such as whites and blues; it’s no wonder why we are always rushing to get the hot water on as quickly as possible. It’s time to put an end to those freezing cold, morning dashes!

Brighter colours to warm the heart

While cooler blues and fresh whites do make the bathroom feel more crisp, contemporary and modern; it doesn’t do much in the way of making the room feel warmer. Be a little more adventurous and stray from the generic bathroom set up and inject some life into your bathroom with some brighter colours. Colours such as red, orange and even hot pink can create the illusion of warmth, in when it’s freezing cold outside – the power of the mind is incredible.

Heat rises

There are many ways in which you can make the floors in your bathroom much warmer. My personal recommendation for the winter would be to add some bathroom carpet. Not only does it really work wonders towards warming the coldest room in your home; but it also helps significantly with insulating the room, trapping the warmth inside. If for whatever reason, carpet isn’t for you then you can look into underfloor heating! Or alternatively, if you’d rather not undertake such a big task, then perhaps a nice rug or some gorgeous bath mats will do the trick, protecting your feet from the nippy floor.

Lighten the mood

Just as brighter colours can create the illusion of warmth, so too can optimised lighting. Take a look at the lightbulb in your bathroom and check what colour temperature they emit. Higher rated Kelvin (K), bulbs emit cooler light, whereas the lower numbers give off a warming glow that really does go a long way to creating a cosy vibe in your bathroom.

Accessorise

An absolute must have in any bathroom is heated towel racks, particularly in the colder seasons. There is nothing worse than stepping out of the shower and grabbing a cold, damp towel. With a heated towel rack you will be able to keep your towels warm and dry all of the time so that when the hot water is turned off and you’re exposed to the elements, you can wrap up tight in a snug and warm towel to dry off with. Perfect!

Use storage compartments to house remote controls, magazines, and other small items. Regularly curating and clearing the tabletop can also help maintain a tidy look.

A round or oval tray can add contrast and help break up the lines, while a rectangular or square tray can maintain a consistent geometry.

Choose coffee tables with hidden storage or use decorative boxes and trays that complement the room’s decor.
