Using Quartz in Your Bathroom, Good or Bad Idea?

The benefits and drawbacks of using Quartz for your bathroom countertop

Quartz Bathroom Top

Quartz countertops are becoming increasingly popular as they have many great qualities. Not only is it very attractive in its appearance, but it is also incredibly durable too. This is due to the fact that quartz is stronger than the various natural stone materials.

This material is a manufactured material (also referred to as engineered stone countertops) and as a result of this manufacturing process it can come in all manner of different colours, making this material a great choice for those who hold the aesthetic appeal of a material in the highest regard. Quartz is a truly beautiful material that has a luxurious finish and a depth that is unmatched by most other materials used to produce stone countertops.

Not only that but quartz is as tough and durable as concrete or granite, only it is much less likely to crack or chip and is still very pleasant to the touch with the right finish. It is a non-porous material which is perfect to use in bathrooms or kitchens as it resists staining much more than other natural stone materials. It is much better for cleanliness and is incredibly easy to maintain, with no nooks and crannies for bacteria and viruses to thrive.

While there are many pros when it comes to quartz, there are a few drawbacks that can be off putting for some. First and foremost quartz is rather expensive in comparison to other stone materials; however it is important to keep in mind that those prices are competitive with other high-end materials such as granite, marble and slate etc.

While quartz is a very beautiful material, there are those that prefer the more natural look that you can get from other stone surfaces such as granite, marble or even wood. You will also find that the manufactured seams are much more noticeable; however this doesn’t tend to pose much of a problem considering the many pros of using this stone.

Also, quartz is not as heat resistant as most other stone materials so you must take care when using it in your kitchen or bathroom where it will be exposed to a great deal of heat. In the grand scheme of things quartz is an all-around great material to work with though.

So to sum everything up: if you are looking for an attractive, upscale material for your countertop that requires practically no maintenance whatsoever then quartz will most certainly be a viable option for you. It looks good and comes in a variety of different colours for you to choose from and it is impressively easy to clean – what more could you want? There are a few very minor drawbacks but if you are willing to overlook them then you will indeed by satisfied with your investment.
