The Battle For Bathroom Space

His and Her Bathroom Cabinets; because why not?

I remember waking up one morning and rolling out of bed with a smile on my face. (You can already tell that I am telling porkies) I slipped on some pants and strolled toward the bathroom with a cheerful spring in my step, gleefully whistling the theme tune to Neighbours.

As I walked into the bathroom I was greeted by an army of hair clips and half empty bottles of shampoo and conditioner littered across the bathroom cabinet. At once my face dropped. Now I love my wife dearly, I really do – though in that moment I decided it was time that we got separate bathroom cabinets.  Nothing serious, it’s not as though we were sleeping in separate beds, or as if I were kicking her out on the street. (Would that I could; the house is in her name!) I just figured a little bit of space was what we needed in our relationship.

So I did. For my wife I picked up this beautiful Solid Oak Bathroom Storage Unit

Only the finest quality for my beloved of course, and look at all of that space! Surely even she would not be able fill that up with all of the foundation, moisturiser and cotton wool buds in the world!

Then of course there is the unit I purchased for little old me. This charming Solid Oak Wall Mounted Bathroom Cabinet.

My thinking was that as I only have a few bits and bobs, it would serve me perfectly. And since I could mount it on the wall out of the way it would give my wife room to manoeuvre, when she’s doing whatever it is that she does for 3 hours every morning.

Now, for the first day it was bliss. I woke up in the morning and strolled out of bed, smile beaming from one ear to the other. I opened up my man cabinet to find all of my toiletries waiting to greet me and wish me well on my way to work. It was perfect. Everything was tidy, there was no clutter in sight and all was good in the world.

I am sure you can already guess where this is going. Over the course of the next week she slowly moved into my cabinet as well. Her reasoning of course, was that it was more convenient for her to store her make-up in there because of the mirror. “You are a man, you don’t need as many things as I do” she said. And I suppose that she was right, though one thing was for certain; it was much tidier in the bathroom now that we had a little more space for all of her bits!

After all, there is nothing quite as fine as a bathroom with a tidy and sterile aura about it. It should be the one place where you can truly escape and rejuvenate yourself. Just be sure to lock the door, as the wife will be in and out like a yoyo while you’re trying to enjoy a nice quite bath!
