Keeping Warm in the Tub During Winter

Breathe a little warmth into your bathroom this winter.

Stop being such a scrooge and get into the Christmas spirit! It’s going to be a cold one so I am going to share with you some different tips and ideas on various ways to make your bathroom a little warmer this winter.

This first one is a little unorthodox but it’s certainly good fun! It may not be lonely but this Christmas but it will definitely be cold , so my advice to you is rather than have two separate baths, you and your better half should share a hot bath together instead – that way the money you save on water can be put towards keeping the heating on for that little bit longer!

Why don’t you throw a rug into the mix too? I don’t actually mean that you should bring a rug into the bath with you. What I mean is: you could try putting a big rug down on the floor to keep your feet that little bit warmer. Most modern bathrooms have either tiling or laminate flooring and they can both become incredibly cold to the touch when Jack Frost has been doing his rounds. Your shower matt doesn’t have to be a scraggly little square of carpet: find yourself a delightful and thick rug to keep your little toesies warm throughout the winter months.

Another great idea is to experiment with lighting! Of course coming up to Christmas you will likely be spending out lots of money on all of the presents that Santa is apparently too lazy to deliver himself (never had that problem when I was a little boy – he must be growing complacent in his old age!) I digress – most people tend to roll with the bog standard lighting when it comes to the bathroom but you should try going for different colours that can give off a warmer vibe. Try some orange and reds to create a warmer and toasty feel. While these won’t actually do much in regards to actually warming the bathroom, the psychological effect will speak for itself.

This is another idea that isn’t exactly the ‘quick-fix’ solution, however it is most certainly an investment that is worth looking into – especially if you are planning a bathroom renovation any time soon: Under-floor heating. This is a delightful and luxurious solution to heating your bathroom. If done correctly it can actually work out much cheaper in the long-run as under-floor heating can be much cheaper than turning a radiator up full blast.

Alternatively you can forgo all of these ideas and simply invest in some decent air freshener so that the next time somebody drops a stinker in the bathroom, rather than leave the window wide open they can just spray for a few seconds and it you will not only have a fresh smelling bathroom, but you can also keep that bloody cold outside too!
