A Very Merry Christmas!

Are you the sort of person who goes all out when it comes to Christmas decorations? As the festive season is upon us you’ve probably already put up your tree and most of your decorations, but have you ever thought of decorating your bathroom? It may seem quite unusual but it’s great for when you’re hosting a party and you’ve got quite a few guests coming.

We’re big fans of seasonally decorating the bathroom here at Bathrooms and More Store and getting it all Christmassy is definitely our favourite. In this blog we’ll be running through a few ideas with you on how to achieve the perfect Winter decorated bathrooms.

One of the more fun (especially for kids) ideas is to have a themed shower curtain and because it’s Christmas, what’s better than a Santa suit?

Another fun and engaging decoration is a toilet seat cover. We found this one and instantly fell in love with it. It’s great, don’t you think?

The great thing about it is that toilet seat covers, and in fact shower curtains, can be easily taken off and replaced with more neutral and plain version once the holiday season is over.

On the more sublet side, you could make use of the extra toilet roll by decorating them with a few branches that have fallen from the tree. Go the extra mile by tying fancy ribbon around them. Make sure that you have a good stock of roll before trying this one, you don’t want people running out and having to unwrap them!

Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating is fast becoming more and more popular within the home. It was not too long ago when underfloor heating was mainly associated with high luxury, it was viewed as a high end extravagance. Now having this lovely extra in the family bathroom, is more widespread and commonplace. It is a popular way to add value to your home, and is being fitted into new builds across the UK.

To achieve this look you will have to be prepared to have your bathroom floor completely taken up, to fit the heating in the appropriate areas. But if you are prepared for the change, the results can be tremendous. There is potential that once you have had the floor fitted, you will not know how you dealt without it!

Both water and electric underfloor heating systems are available, it simply depends on which you would prefer & what would be best for your existing set up.

Having a heated underfloor system helps during the cold Winter months in particular. The system is great when the temperature drops and your floor becomes unpleasant to walk across, especially after a warm bath! However, it is also lovely to have in the Summer, as it can be set to a low temperature which takes the edge off the tiling.

Depending on what flooring you have fitted in your bathroom, the heating can become very useful. We would recommend having the installation if you have a stone floor as they tend to be the coldest.

Do you have underfloor heating? What difference has it made to your home?

Bold Block Colour

It is not often that you find a bathroom which consists of bold block colour. Bathrooms which are designed with white, cream or even shades of light blues are much more common. Pastel colours have become more commonplace recently due to the trends in these pale shades across fashion. This style had fed across fashion, but also interior design and our very own homes.

Contemporary Bathroom

These pale shades are reminiscent of the vintage fashion, as some would describe these pale tones to look simply faded. So why not select a bright colour for your bathroom? Some may fear that selecting a bold, or potentially dark, colour could become a regret, potentially when it’s too late. But if you think deeply about your choice, try testers & also research the designs then we are sure you will have no problems. Better still, you will be proud of a bold bathroom which you took a chance on.

His and Hers Bathroom Sinks

There are many brilliantly bold colours to choose from when designing your bathroom. Deep reds which fade almost to burgundy are a fabulous choice, pair this with gold and you will find yourself in a luxurious paradise. Not so sure about red? What about a bright yellow? This is a great colour that you can style up brilliantly with varying shades. Perhaps a deep blue is more your style? By adding white accessories you can give your bathroom a truly brilliant nautical theme. Our basins fit perfectly with such colours, browse our collection here.

So go on, be daring – it works, trust us!

Ambiant Lighting

Taking a bath is universally known as a brilliant way to relax, and soak your troubles away. Sometimes even the mere sound of filling the bath can be give a moment of peace and solace, in anticipation of the relaxation which is to follow.

There are many ways which you can make your bathroom feel like a peaceful haven of happiness. Each week we discuss clever ways to make your bathroom stand out, and feel that extra bit more special to you. After all, it is the home owner which we care most about here at Bathrooms & More Store.

But what about lighting? This is an aspect of the bathroom which can be forgotten about, as fittings are usually fixed into ceilings and/or walls. There are in fact many fabulous bathroom chandeliers which can be fitted to bathrooms, giving the room an edge in the home.

Other temporary forms of lighting can be used in the bathroom, like lovely candles. Scented candles are extremely popular in the bathroom, as they add to the refreshing scents of bath creams.

However, if you are to use candles whilst bathing we must advise you to be careful and wary of their placing. Safety comes first. But, once you have ensured the area is safe you can begin to enjoy some wonderful ambient lighting in your bathroom.

Roll Top Baths

The roll top bath is the ultimate in bathroom luxury. Whether you want one which is free standing or with legs, there are plenty to choose from. There are a really great way to that extra special something to your bathroom. The brilliance of these baths is also how simple, yet elegant they are.

Another way to add interest to a roll top bath is to paint the underneath, like the one in the image above. There are many different options of paint which will work brilliantly, it also means that there are different methods of painting. There is the option to spray paint the bath tub, as this will give a great all over coverage, however you may need to use more than one layer due to the thin consistency of such paints.

Another method could be to use acrylic polymer paint, which is also a fast drying paint. This is always important when working in the home as to avoid mess. You can choose a bold colour for your bath to give it a strong appearance, or use a pastel colour like the lovely green above to help soften its look.

A fabulous way to give added grander to your tub is to use the legs to add detail to the piece. The cast iron features which are shown in the above image give the bath a classic appearance, which will continue throughout your bathroom due to this bold statement. Also, if you want to add something a little special, you can fit speciality taps and fittings to your bath.

But of course the main advantage of a roll top bath is that you can have a deep soak!
