App-ealing Designs

It’s a great feeling when you step back and admire your interior design skills but the process of getting there can be a tumultuous experience. What starts as a small thought can snowball into a mammoth-sized task filled with frustration and indecision.

Living Room Interior

Interior design can be one of the most trying times, particularly with large scale projects where a much-used room is out of action during the makeover.

There is so many decisions to make! Should the living room be cream, white, off white or pearl? Should the dining table be on the right or left? Is the bathroom fittings arranged for space-saving?

There’s no need to fret! There is help at hand. There are many apps out there to assist with day-to-day life, and interior design isn’t an exception.

Take a look at these handy apps to help the process run a little smoother:

Houzz

Houzz App

One of the most downloaded in its category, Houzz is a huge collection of interior design images. If you enjoy a nosey round show homes or watching makeover programmes on the TV, this is the app for you. You can save your favourites to a digital book to return to at a later date when you’re planning your next makeover.

Home Design DIY Interior Floor Layout Space Planning & Decorating Tool

Home Design DIY App

Quite a long-winded name but another great app, especially when buying new furniture. It helps you see exactly how furniture will fit into your home. Input the dimensions of the room along with images of the floor walls and curtains into the app and it will generate a replica floor plan. Then upload a picture of the furniture you’re thinking of buying then you can move them around and see how they fit into the room.

ColourSnap

ColourSnap

The ColourSnap app is designed to help you with choosing new colour schemes. It cleverly converts any real life colour into a paint brand. If you have a favourite shirt or dress you like the colour of, take and upload a picture and the app does the rest for you. It also offers suggestions of colours that will complement and contrast with your uploaded shade, allowing for a new look to be created easily and quickly.

Handy Man DIY

Handy Man App

Handy Man DIY features an extensive catalogue of do-it-yourself project instructions and instructional videos. It’s so much easier to have your design and instructions on an easy to hold smart phone or tablet. It also helps you find out how much paint, flooring or trim you need for a room. Simply enter the measurements and let Handy Man DIY do the maths.

Pinterest

Pinterest

Although it’s not technically an interior design app, Pinterest is the latest social networking craze, which allows you to create pin boards of inspiring things. You can share pinned items with friends and browse through thousands of other people’s ‘pins’ in hundreds of categories. Why not check out our Pinterest page to get your ideas started?

We hope these apps are helpful in your interior design quest. If you know of any more or have used any of the apps featured, leave us a comment below or on our Facebook page.
